We ventured onto the bus (after checking on the community garden plot) with minimal struggle. Once at the beach (Bryn Mawr Beach) Miles headed straight for the water fully dressed. I could hardly throw my bag down before he was in the water. He was so annoyed with me as I tied to get his shirt off as he splashed in. Now last time we went he was content sitting waist deep and watching the waves hit him. But as we know, nothing stays the same for long with babies. Now he wanted to be held floating on his stomach in the water far from the shore. (so brave) BURRR….lets just say that I love my son and that is the only reason I got fully into the water. But it was worth it, he giggled and smiled the whole time. </p> <p>The pictures above are of the very very small amount of time we were in the sand. I love the one in black and white…my son is beautiful is he not? We just got back from our trip to Oklahoma with Miles (14 months). The traveling could have gone better (we missed our flight there and were delayed on the way back) but Miles didn’t seem to mind. </p> <p>We rented a ranch house in Agra, Oklahoma (middle of nowhere)…really, there was no cell phone reception or internet. The ranch was secluded on a small lake surrounded by pastures with grazing cows and horses. It is just a couple houses down from us which has been so fun. I am sharing the space with a friend and we are both learning as we go. Miles has been having so much fun helping me water the plants and playing in the dirt. Mostly he is likes to touch the tags marking each plant in ALL the garden boxes. Luckily he is not interested in the actual plants, yet. </p> <p>Yesterday, I turn around and he has a huge chunk of manure in his hand and is on the way to putting it straight into his mouth! I scream and grab it just in time. Close call. So he won’t even try the nice dinner I made him but he’ll try cow manure. It ended with to 2 of us sitting in Millennium Park in the rain. </p> <p>Caleb had a big pitch he had to work on all weekend, so Miles and I were left to entertain ourselves on a rainy saturday. We stared by going on a walk in the rain to check on the garden. I’ll have to post some pictures of our garden. At the end of the block is a community garden and we have a plot. Then we walked to Target with Miles in the wrap. It is a mile walk in the rain, but Miles seemed to enjoy it. He loves being in the wrap. </p> <p>Later that day Caleb had to go into the office so we went with him thinking that we could play in the kids room at the Art Institute and then the park while he worked. When we got to the museum it was closing early for an event. So we went to Millennium Park and it started raining. (picture above) So we went out for dinner and then walked to Caleb’s office. He still had a lot of work to do and it was already 6:30. So Miles played around the office (opening can closing doors, file cabinets and pushing chairs around). Our favorite family game is for Caleb and me to sit 6 feet apart on the floor and have him run into my arms and then turn around and run into Caleb’s. There is nothing better than having a baby run (awkwardly toddle) toward you with his arms open and a HUGE smile. Amazing. Well actually he has his first 2 popsicles today. He had one and I had one….and you can imagine what happened next. He was so cute trying to eat it because he couldn’t quite hold the stick so he just wrapped his chubby baby hands around the whole popsicle. It must have been very cold. Emilie, Miles and I are going to France together. The passport process was horrible and Miles was crying during his photo, but somehow Caleb got him to laugh for a split second! We got a cute picture for his first of many passports.
