So we did it! Miles and I successfully took the bus and then el downtown by ourselves. Miles did a great job and had a good time looking at all the people. We went up the Caleb’s office in the big intimidating Aon Center.
We had the most perfect weather (which is rare in March). It was 70 and sunny! Beautiful, just beautiful.
Next we went to get some dinner and finally headed over to the Art Institute to see the Matisse Exhibit. We first stopped off at the kids playroom in the Modern Wing for Miles to have some time down on the ground. The room is so great with foam blocks, books, and lots of space to crawl. (I recommend it to anyone with little kids) After that I put Miles in the wrap and we headed up to the exhibit. We wanted to get use out of our membership so we went to the early showing of the exhibit before it is open to the public. Still, it was crowded but well worth it. We were in the exhibit at the same time as Miles normally goes to bed so he decided not to wait for us to but him in his crib and fell asleep in the exhibit. So that is the photo above, he is sound asleep in front of one of my favorite Matisse paintings.
On the way home Miles woke up and got a second wind. He was wide awake on the el and bus ride home, smiling at people and reading his book.
We were exhausted when we got home! After teaching all day, then driving home, then going downtown and back all while carrying a 20 pound baby I was ready to fall over.
I am on spring break now, so lots of great time with Miles is ahead. And we head to Florida on Wednesday and will celebrate Miles birthday there. Fun and exciting posts soon to come!
